My journey began with setting up a Metamask wallet and connecting to the respective testnets. Each platform had its own requirements, but most followed a similar onboarding process:
Create a Wallet: MetaMask or similar browser wallets are typically the go-to options.Connect to the Testnet: Each network provided testnet faucets for free tokens to cover transaction fees. (Some testnet faucets gave me issues, one never worked, and some required a minimum balance of around 0.001 Mainnet ETH to get the testnet tokens.)Perform Tasks: Tasks ranged from simple transactions to testing new dApps (decentralized applications).
While the claims online emphasized “easy earnings,” the reality was more nuanced. Some networks were self-explanatory while others required a glance at the docs for instructional or even inspirational assistance. While another just failed all the way around.
Experience: Straightforward setup, with clear instructions. Must have a small balance of Mainnet ETH for faucet to pay out.Tasks: Mostly focused on validating transactions and providing feedback.Time Commitment: About 30 minutes per day.Potential Rewards: Promised airdrop based on activity and feedback quality.
Experience: This testnet leaned heavily on social verification and human identity validation. I basically just uploaded all my social accounts and have to wait for a code to scan my palm…Tasks: Required completing KYC (Know Your Customer) processes and interacting with identity-focused dApps.Time Commitment: 45 minutes per session.Potential Rewards: Tokens distributed based on network participation.
