Maserati has introduced a combination of artificial intelligence (AI) and high performance in its MC20 supercar, which was showcased at the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) 2025.
The original MC20, released in September 2020, stands for Maserati Corse 2020. Its latest version incorporates autonomous driving features developed through the Artificial Intelligence Driving Autonomous (AIDA) project.
The MC20 recently made headlines by serving as the safety vehicle at a driverless racing competition in Las Vegas, where Politecnico di Milano, Italy’s top technical university, tested the limits of autonomous driving.

Professor Sergio Matteo Savaresi from Politecnico di Milano explained the challenges of developing algorithms for such vehicles.
He told IOT World Today on January 15:
The faster you go, the more efficient the algorithm needs to be, and it must never make mistakes. Therefore, it is important to test its performance under extreme conditions, such as at high speeds.
The MC20 also caught attention for achieving a record-breaking 177 mph run without a driver. This milestone highlights the potential of AI-driven vehicles to perform at levels once thought impossible.
Maserati’s MC20 debut shows a growing trend in the supercar industry. Research estimates the supercar market, valued at $19.4 billion, could grow by 24.23% to reach $24.1 billion by 2030.
